The Food Storage Shopper

Where to Purchase

  • You can purchase shelves just about anywhere. From the Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, SAMS club. The trick is to get a shelf that will work best for your storage area and your needs. Below are some different types of shelves available. You need to decide what works best for you. Please share any shelves that have worked for you.

Cost Comparisons

  • Inexpensive metal or plastic shelving (i.e. from Walmart) - A cheap and easy way to get started, although shelves may not last as long as other options. Cost is from $15-50.
  • Higher quality metal shelves - If you get some heavy duty hardware store metal shelves you should have no problem with them bowing or collapsing under heavy weights. Cost is from $50-150.
  • Deluxe Can Rotation System - These are the priciest way to go but are VERY convenient when you are really rotating and using your food storage items. Different versions are available to fit whatever size of cans you want to store. Cost is from $120-500.
