Where to Purchase

You can purchase legume at most grocery stores. Don’t forget that Home Storage Centers offer beans at a great price. There are a lot of website online that offer competitive pricing on legumes. Check back as I will be updating this site with more resources as to where to purchase your legumes!

I have found that SAM’S club offers dry black beans cheaper than LDS Home Storage Centers.

Cost Comparisons

  • The average cost of  a can of pinto beans is .89 cents. You can get a 1lb of dry pinto beans for about .94 cents. The catch is that 1lb of dry pinto beans is equivalent to 3.5 cans of pinto beans.  So you can spend $3.01 on canned pinto beans or .94 cents on dry beans - all the same in the end, except for the price tag! The same is true for all dry beans! Be sure to visit the website below where it gives you awesome ways to cook with beans! You can buy a can of pinto beans for .89 cents or a “can” of dry pinto beans for .27 cents!

Low Cost or Homemade Options

  • Cooking with dried legumes is a wonderful way to cut costs. I know I was afraid to cook with them, I also liked the convenience of just opening a can - and voila ready to go. However, when I compared the prices - it is much cheaper! I can put a little more thought into my preparation to save my family some money!
