Walmart & Food Storage
I do not often go into Walmart because I shop sales at Grocery Stores - however, this last week I went in to get some diapers and I was surprised!
In Utah, there have been some “Emergency Aisles” popping up with all sorts of great products. Here are some items that was I impressed with:
Gamma Lids - $5.95
6 Gallon Storage Buckets - $3.99
55 Gallon Water Container -$39.99
They also had all sorts of different dried fruits and veggies already packaged. I am not sure what stores carry this new line - however, it may be worth a call to see what your local Walmart may offer.
Good luck!

None of the local (San Diego area) WalMarts have any of these items– and neither does WalMart.com.
Utah Valley Wal-Marts offer these items, but I’ve never seen them anywhere else. (Dang it!)
I always go to Wal-mart and price match everything… that way I am not running around to 10 different stores. I just look through the ads to see what is on sale and then take it to Wal-Mart. I also like how Wal-Mart has been doing the food storage isles. Living in Utah sure does make getting food storage a little easier, with the cannery, case lot sales, and the wal-mart emergency isles… I love it!
A few stores in AZ are starting to carry the emergency items
Our Queen Creek AZ Walmart has a food storage isle as well. It is a recent addition. They have the large buckets of basic food storage items, and also alot of #10 can size freeze dried foods. Does anyone know how the price compared to the cannery?
Our Walmart’s here in the East Valley Area (AZ) don’t carry that stuff yet…however I just discovered a really cool Food Storage store in Chandler just off I-10 so very convenient. It has everything you need there, long term, camping, emergency preparedness stuff, freeze dried etc.. And the prices are the best I’ve seen around. Even beating the Cannery prices at times and the milk tastes so much better. It is called Honeyville Farms and they are always having great sales on top of the prices that are already great. I have lived in Mesa for 22 years and am so glad to finally have this resource here that we had in Ut when I lived there! Check it out it makes the Food Storage process for those of us not in Ut so much easier!
Our Safford, AZ Walmart just set up a food storage isle as well. I had never heard of the “Western Valley Harvest” freeze dried brand, but did some price checking on things like dried berries, powdered butter, eggs, etc, and their prices are excellent. I need to try a couple of cans of things before I stock up. Has anyone tried this brand yet. Walmart definitly beats the cannery’s price on wheat, powdered milk, and apple slices. Please let me know if you’ve tried any of this brand. Honeyville Farms products are so good, I hate to buy a bunch stuff that isn’t as good just to save a couple bucks. Thanks for any feedback
None of our local Walmarts in western NC carry any of these products. In particular I would be delighted to be able to locally buy the hard wheat, either in the buckets or the 50# bags. I have been searching to try and find the UPC codes inhopes that I can get our store to order some bulk wheat for me.
If anyone who is able to get the wheat at their local WM would be so kind as to check the UPC code and brand name for me and post that info here I would be so grateful.
